Adverbs of Manner
These tell how an action is done. Many are formed by adding -ly to an adjective.
| Adjective | Adverb |
|---|---|
| quick | quickly |
| careful | carefully |
| happy | happily |
| good | well (irregular) |
She sings beautifully.
He drives carefully.
They worked hard. (no -ly)
Adverbs of manner usually come after the verb or the object: "She speaks English fluently."
