Causative Verbs (have, make, help, get)

Causative verbs show that the subject causes someone else to do something — they don't do it themselves.

I had the barber cut my hair.

She made him apologise.

They got the car repaired.

He helped me carry the bags.

Patterns: have/make/help + person + base verb; get + person + to + verb; have/get + thing + past participle (have my hair cut).

Common mistake: Wrong form after the causative: "She made him to clean" → "She made him clean" (no "to" after make/have/let).

✏️ Test Yourself

1. She made him ___ (clean) the room.

2. I had my photo ___ (take).

3. They got the house ___ (paint).

4. He helped me ___ (move) the table.
