Countable & Uncountable Nouns
Countable nouns can be counted (one book, two books). Uncountable nouns cannot be counted (water, rice, sugar, money, information).
| Countable | Uncountable |
|---|---|
| book, apple, car, chair | water, rice, milk, money, advice |
I have three apples. (countable)
I drink water. (uncountable — no "waters")
She gave me good advice.
Uncountable nouns have no plural and use much/little/some, not many/few. We count them with units: a glass of water, a piece of advice.
Common mistake: Making uncountable nouns plural ("informations," "furnitures"). They stay singular: information, furniture.
