Need / Need to
Need + noun means you must have something. Need to + verb means you must do something.
I need water. (need + noun)
I need to sleep. (need to + verb)
She needs a pen.
He needs to study.
Use need to before an action verb: "You need to rest." With he/she/it, add -s: "He needs to go."
Common mistake: Dropping "to" before a verb: "I need sleep" (means sleep the noun); to say the action use "I need to sleep."
✏️ Test Yourself
1. I ___ a pen.
2. You ___ rest.
3. She ___ to study.
