Objects & Their Types
An object receives the action of a verb. A direct object answers what?/whom?; an indirect object answers to/for whom?
She gave him (indirect) a book (direct).
I sent my friend (indirect) a letter (direct).
He kicked the ball (direct).
The indirect object (the receiver) usually comes first; the direct object (the thing) comes after.
Common mistake: Mixing them up. In "She gave him a book," him = indirect (receiver), a book = direct (the thing given).
✏️ Test Yourself
1. He kicked the ball.
2. She told me a story.
3. They built a house.
4. I gave her a gift.
