Past Continuous

Use was/were + verb-ing for an action that was in progress at a point in the past.

I was watching TV at 8 p.m.

They were playing when it started to rain.

She was cooking dinner.

Use was with I/he/she/it and were with you/we/they. It often shows the background action when another (past simple) action happened.

Common mistake: "We was playing." Use were with we/you/they: "We were playing."

✏️ Test Yourself

1. She ___ (cook) dinner.

2. We ___ (wait) for the bus.

3. He ___ (read) at 9 p.m.

4. They ___ (play) outside.
