Prepositions of Direction
These show movement from one place to another: to, into, onto, out of, towards, through, across, up, down.
He walked to school.
The cat jumped onto the table.
We went through the tunnel.
She ran across the road.
Direction = movement (to, into, across). Place = position (in, on). Don't mix them.
Common mistake: Using place prepositions for movement: "She ran in the room" (position) vs "She ran into the room" (movement).
✏️ Test Yourself
1. She ran ___ the room.
2. Walk ___ the bridge.
3. He climbed ___ the hill.
4. Water flows ___ the pipe.
