Reflexive & Emphatic Pronouns
Reflexive pronouns (myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself, ourselves, yourselves, themselves) are used when the subject and object are the same. The same words used to add stress are emphatic.
Reflexive: She hurt herself.
Reflexive: I taught myself English.
Emphatic: I myself saw it. (adds emphasis)
Emphatic: The king himself came.
Reflexive = the action turns back on the subject. Emphatic = adds stress and can be removed without breaking the sentence.
Common mistake: Using "myself" instead of "me" for emphasis incorrectly: "Give it to me," not "Give it to myself."
✏️ Test Yourself
1. He cut **himself** shaving.
