This / That / These / Those
These words point to things. You choose by distance (near or far) and number (one or many).

This is my pen. (one, near)
That is your house. (one, far)
These are my books. (many, near)
Those are birds in the sky. (many, far)
We can use them before a noun too: this book, that car, these pens, those houses.
Near = this/these. Far = that/those. One = this/that. Many = these/those.
Common mistake: Using "this" for plural ("this books"). For more than one near thing, use "these books."
