Uses of Articles

a / an introduce something new or non-specific; the points to something specific or already known. Use no article for general plurals and uncountables.

I bought a book. → The book is good. (now specific)

The sun is bright. (unique thing)

Dogs are loyal. (general — no article)

She is the best student. (superlative → the)

Use the for unique things (the moon), superlatives (the best), and things already mentioned. Use a/an the first time you mention something countable.

Common mistake: Using "the" with general plurals: "The dogs are loyal" (means specific dogs). For dogs in general, say "Dogs are loyal."
