Please, Thank You & Sorry
These three "magic words" make your English polite and kind, and people will always enjoy talking with you.
- Please — when you ask for something. Can I have water, please? - Thank you — when someone helps or gives you something. Thank you for your help. - Sorry — when you make a mistake or want to apologise. Sorry, I am late.
We also reply politely: - "Thank you." → "You're welcome." - "Sorry." → "It's okay / No problem."
Please open the door.
Thank you very much for the gift.
I'm sorry for the mistake.
Add "please" when you ask and "thank you" when you receive — this small habit makes a big, good impression.
Common mistake: Saying only "Thanks" can sound abrupt in formal situations; "Thank you" is safer with teachers and elders.
