Simple Present (Basic)
We use the simple present for actions we do every day, habits, and things that are always true.
| Subject | Verb | Example |
|---|---|---|
| I / You / We / They | eat | I eat rice. |
| He / She / It | eats | She eats rice. |
The key rule: with he, she, it, add -s to the verb.
For negatives and questions, use do / does: - I don't like tea. / She doesn't like tea. - Do you live here? / Does he live here?
I play cricket every day.
He plays cricket every day.
They read books. / She reads books.
Use time words like every day, always, usually, on Mondays with the simple present.
Common mistake: Forgetting -s with he/she/it ("She work" → She works), or adding -s after does ("She doesn't likes" → She doesn't like).
